Racers sign first goalie.

Racers have today announced the signing of Steve Nightingale, from Invicta Dynamos.
Steve was back-up netminder with the successful ‘Mos team last season in NIHL1.
Steve played his junior hockey in Peterborough, making his way up to ENL1 playing for the Islanders for 3 seasons until 2007. Having taken some time off to concentrate on university and work, he played rec. hockey, then rejoined NIHL1 with Invicta Dynamos in 2014. He was the back up there for 2 seasons and is now looking forward to joining the Racers!

Steve is a university sports science lecturer and also works for the EIHA as Head of Strength and Conditioning. (That’ll be useful!!!) In the summer he coaches on Nathan Craze’s goalie camps. He has coached the junior goalies at Invicta and Haringey, as well as the Guildford Lightning Women’s Elite League team.

He says he has joined the Racers family for a couple of reasons. “Dave Richards spoke to me early in the summer and made it clear he wanted me, and that was important. I know Bandy (Alastair Band) and Jack Lee, so I’m sure I’ll feel right at home. I’m really looking forward to playing a big role in the success of this season”.

Welcome to the #RacersFamily, Steve.
